THE FESTIVAL
With 13 shows of 8 plays in 9 locations of the municipality, “Vagamundos: Fiesta del Teatro en Pátzcuaro” seeks to spread and strengthen theatrical production in the region.
We are convinced that theater can help our reality be more peaceful and supportive.
Vagamundos is a joint effort between local performing artists, the Department of Culture of the Pátzcuaro City Council and the Ministry of Culture of Michoacán through the Centro Cultural Antiguo Colegio Jesuita.

The Epic Journey of Gilgamesh is humanity's oldest literary work; It is the story of a tyrant king who becomes a just king; It is the story of an enemy who becomes the best friend; It is the story of a wild man who becomes a civilized man. This is the story of the man who wanted to achieve eternal life and who failed but who, by trying, gained the wisdom of experience. This is the story of Gilgamesh, told in 30 minutes in a space of two square meters, using theater as language.

Vagamundos Collective
While the Queen is dying (an allegory of the current state of Lake Pátzcuaro), the court jester enters an existential crisis. The animals of the region visit her to make offerings and sacrifice a part of them to get her out of her state. This piece of street theater is a growth of the group of creators that make up Vagamundos.
